Hi there! 👋 I am Tim Jensen, a Software Engineer with an interdisciplinary background and multiple years of experience in Rust. Specializing in low-level systems, I thrive on writing simple yet robust code that combines compile-time safety with runtime performance. I am always looking for environments where I can collaborate on modern technologies and continuously learn.
My professional background is rooted in Mechatronics at UAS Mannheim and the Delta Racing Formula Student Team—where I gained my first hands-on experience programming distributed embedded systems and debugging complex scenarios. I further honed my engineering rigor at 42 Heilbronn, forging a first-principles mindset. I believe in learning by building, developing complex systems from scratch—such as a Bash-like shell, a webserver or a physics-based ray tracer—to master underlying mechanics without relying on black-box abstractions. Currently, I apply this knowledge to Systems Programming and Embedded Systems at Vector Informatik GmbH.
As a counterbalance to digital work, I recharge outdoors through calisthenics, bikepacking, and hiking. I love acquiring new skills, currently training to master the freestanding handstand and kettlebell juggling. My engineering passion translates into the physical world through DIY projects like my camper van conversion and custom bike building. Driven by curiosity, I also experiment with nutrition, cultivating sprouts and exploring fermentation.
